Low Cost 6m and 2m Operation   May 1st, 2014

I sometimes get time to switch on a radio and see how well it works. I have to confess that I have not used the newish IC-7100 much, but we did put up a combined 6m and 4m Yagi on top of out tower the other day and so I thought that I would check it out.

The antenna is manufactured by InnovAntennas and it works remarkably well whilst taking up very little space. It is very simple to set up and if you foliow the instructions, you can use it right out of the box. It offers a low VSWR across both bands and excellent directivity and F/B performance.

What also struck me was the very small footprint with a boom of just over 1m long and a weight of around 2kg. This makes it a very easy antenna to install and requires a very small rotator. With the coming sporadic E season, this is a great time to be on these two bands and a low cost way of doing it.
