FTDX-1200 On its Way!   August 1st, 2013

In May of this year I got the first view of Yaesu’s new FTDX-1200 transceiver at the USA Dayton Hamvention. This transceiver follows very much along the lines of the FTDX-3000 in terms of shape and presentation. However, this very handsome package comes in at a very competitive price, below £1500.

I had a chance to use one last Sunday at our Open Day and was very pleased with how it operated. It covers 160m-6m running 5-100W output and I am lead to believe that it is fitted with three roofing filters. It also has a built in auto ATU. But one of the really nice things is the nice superb colour screen. I have said it before and I will say it again, that Yaesu are at last fitting decent sized screens on their radios rather than the old post box designs.

Now on Sunday I was told that there was no delivery dated fixed yet. From this I took it to mean that it was some way away. Yesterday I was told that delivery could be as early as next week! So if you want one of these radios, give us a call and let’s do a deal. As usual, part exchange is welcome. Peter G3OJV
