Shop Blind July 22nd, 2008
Many customers first view of our store when they visit is the 20m quadrant blind which extends across most of the front building in Main Road, Hockley.
This blind succumbed to the very high winds we experienced in Spring this year. Most of it was blown around Hockley.
We had great difficulty in finding a company who could replace this monster blind.
Eventually a Southend Company agreed to take the job on.
We took the opportunity to update the printed information to publicise our suppliers like KENWOOD, ICOM, YAESU, SONY & PANASONIC and our own website www.wsplc.com
W-8681 Stock July 15th, 2008
Unfortunately we have run out of W-8681 weather stations for the time being.
We hope to have more stock in around mid August, so if you still haven’t gotten around to buying one, don’t worry.
Mark & Matt Francis – Charity Run July 14th, 2008
I posted not long ago about a charity run that Mark and Matt were both taking part in. We are pleased to say that they both finished, and had a lot of fun doing so.
“It was a nice sunny day, and London was great. I was aiming for less than an hour, and I finished in 38 minutes, so that was nice. I was being tormented by Matt afterwards, as he finished in 18 minutes, he joked that he could have gone around twice and still beaten me.
It was difficult up to the third kilometre, but after that it became a bit easier. It was moving to see so many people taking part and supporting the charity. We have managed to raise £270 so far, but you can continue to donate until the 7th of September.
I’m glad I had the opportunity to take part, as it was fun to run and support a worthy cause.”
As Mark said, you can still donate up until the 7th of September, so take a peek at their official sponsorship web page.
Repeater Gateway July 7th, 2008
As from last Thursday, our repeater (GB7SS) has been running online, enabling DSTAR radios to communicate digitally with other repeaters via the internet.
Unfortunately I am not a licensed amateur, so I can’t explain much about the radio side of things, but anyone that is registered with another gateway already can use ours. If you are not registered elsewhere and would like to register with us, please send me an email with your call sign and your full name:
DVDongle users can also access our gateway via the list of repeaters displayed in the client software.
I would also like to thank the UKIT team, and Paul – G1DVA in particular, for their huge help in setting everything up.
I have had some emails over the weekend about registering on our gateway, if you want to be registered as quickly as possible, please put “registration” as the email subject. If you do not, it may take me a while to get round to registering you, as your email will end up mixed in with all other emails I receive.
Friedrichshafen July 7th, 2008
In June 2008 the W&S truck once again set off for the biggest Radio Show in Europe at Friedrichshafen in Southern Germany.
Visitors attend from all over Europe and from as far as Russia, Japan and the USA.
Mark, Steve & Jeff set up our biggest ever display and were once again assisted by Bob Kent of Kent Morse Keys and his stepson (and our translator) Dominic. Graham Somerville again took part of our stand to display his bhi products.
